Meet the Team

We work very closely as a team here at KDR Fitness, so you’ll probably meet and work with each of our coaching team at some point while you’re working out. Check out each team member’s bio below. Any problems or questions with regard to your training program or schedule; please do not hesitate to contact any member of our team.

 


Ben Dearman – Co-Owner, CEO, Head Wizardben

Ben’s main job at KDR is to educate the staff and members on the applicable science in Exercise and Nutrition Science.  He is a true scientist at heart, however, he isn’t afraid to think outside the box.

Ben has been involved in the fitness field since 2000 where he worked as a student athletic trainer and personal trainer at Bloomsburg University while pursuing his BS in Exercise Science.

After college Ben worked as an intern at Rutgers University before securing an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Bucknell University.

Upon leaving Bucknell he worked as the Head Strength and Combatives Coach for the 75th Army Ranger Regiment, 3rd Battalion as well as assisting in developing the “Operator Physical Evaluation Course” (OPEC) administered and taught to Navy SEALS and Navy Special Warfare Operators.  While at Fort Benning he was instrumental in developing physical readiness programs for the elite Ranger Recon Detachment (RRD) as well as developing the Ranger Athlete Warrior (RAW) Program.  He was also on the Modern Army Combatives (MACP) Competition team while working with the Rangers.

What Does The KDR Culture Mean To You? Education, no judgements, accountability through camaraderie and teaching people how to kick ass!

What Is Your Favorite Exercise? Deadlifts and swings!

Least Favorite Exercise? All of them…I have a love hate relationship with exercise.  I love the benefits and results, but hate going through it.

Favorite Hobby? Reading and making memories.

Who Do You Look Up To? Why? My mom and Jamie Crowe, two of the strongest women I have ever met.

Guilty Indulgence?  Hmmm…..food?  I love to eat!

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be? Never getting cancer again.

Jamie Crowe – Co-Owner, Head Fitness Coach and Head of Fat Slaying (Program Designer)jamie

Jamie has literally worked every job in a gym over the past 10 years and has a better understanding then most gym owners as to what makes a successful fitness facility.  Jamie has been with KDR Fitness from the beginning and has been integral in bringing the business to where it is now.  As a mom she brings the perspective of our target audience, i.e. women/moms looking to lose weight, get stronger and feel empowered to the heart of the business.  She makes sure that KDR Fitness stays true to its core values and that customer service is our number one priority.

As a full time mother and business owner she is familiar with the issues that plague every woman in her shoes, from “I don’t have time to eat!” to “I can barely get my child ready for school let alone eat breakfast as soon as I wake up!” and the always common, “I can eat this way, but how do I get my kids to eat this way?!”.  She has used all of the excuses and knows exactly how to help busy moms and professional women commit to doing the right habits to get them to where they want to be.  She has been there, done that and is still doing it…right!

She also knows what it is like to be “overweight”.  While pregnant she gained 70+ lbs on to her petite 110 lb frame!  She has since totally transformed her body and mind into that of a Strong, Fit and Lean Female.

What Did You Do Before KDR? I been teaching 1st grade for 32 years.

What Is Your Favorite Hobby? Jewelry making and painting (pictures not walls)

Who Do You Look Up To? Why? My former principal, Nan Parsons. She is a constant role model for those in education; she makes us and expects us to be the best teachers we can be for the children.

Guilty Indulgence? Being served strawberry daiquiris by cute cabana boys while on vacation. I can’t find any cute cabana boys here in Lebanon.

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be? Tough one! I would choose the power to heal; I have too many friends and colleagues that are sick.

What Did You Do Before KDR? I did gymnastics for 13 years which inspired me to go to college for Exercise Science and coach gymnastics for 7 years.

What Is Your Favorite Exercise? Back Squats/ Deadlifts

Least Favorite Exercise? Lunges

Who Do You Look Up To? Why? I look up to my sister, her husband died and she is now a single mother. Her strength inspires me.

Guilty Indulgence? Ice Cream

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be? Why? Flying. I will never have to fly in an airplane again.

What Does the KDR Culture Mean To You? Hope, support, accountability, change, fun, goofballs, unicorns, water guns, KETTLEBELL competitions, Team Snatchtastic, family, friends, strength, constant improvement, education, BBQ’s, acceptance…my second home.

What Did You Do Before KDR? Since I was old enough to work I have worked in restaurants, bartending, however the last 6-8 years I spent 40-80 hours at a desk. Very sedentary. I became a member of KDR in 2013, which gave me more confidence and the encouragement to change my lifestyle; this has inspired me to help others in their lives.

What Is Your Favorite Exercise? I LOVE Kettlebells. I have competed in 2 KB comps, so my favorites are KB Snatch, KB Long Cycle and tricep kickbacks.

Least Favorite Exercise? Pushups.

Favorite Hobby? Enjoying nature, rescuing animals, Sudoku and organizing ANYTHING 🙂

Who Do You Look Up To? Why? My mother! she instilled in me an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, research as well as my work ethic. My mother is the strongest, most genuine, honest person I know. She is my rock, my best friend and the bravest person I know. I love you MOM!

Guilty Indulgence? Comfy sweats, my pups, and a good movie/ tv show (Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead).

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be? Ability to teleport sentient beings. I would use this ability to remove any animals out of harms way, from zoos, aquariums, dangerous or abusive situations.
